Vista Homes 92081The City of Vista is located in the rolling coastal foothills of North County, seven miles east of the Pacific Ocean and 35 miles north of San Diego. It is at the heart of the burgeoning growth cycle enjoyed by all of northern San Diego County. Incorporated in 1963, Vista’s largest population increases occurred during the 1980’s. It is still the county’s second-fastest growing community. The current population of Vista is estimated at nearly 83,000 and is expected to rise to over 101,000 by the year 2010. Agriculture still leads the Vista economy, as it has since this community’s inception. Among Vista’s more popular attractions are the Antique Gas & Steam Engine Museum (which holds major festivals the third and fourth weekends of every June and October) and the Wave Waterpark on Recreation Drive. AVO Playhouse, located in a 1940’s era theater, is owned and operated by the city. Moonlight Amphitheater is the site of outdoor productions of musical theatre. Scottish Highland Games are held in June in Brengle Terrace Park. There are several nearby college campuses: National University’s North County Campus, Mira Costa College (in nearby Oceanside) and California State University San Marcos.
